Where do you locate the source of this noise? Is it the operation of the ABS with the strange feel on the pedal? Possibly also a failed sensor.
Best would be to have a scan of the ABS..must be done with a real scanner which is ABS capable. It would pinpoint the faulty component. What is the condition of brake pads and rear shoes (unajusted rear shoes or low brake fluid level as well as parking brake pedal not fully returning to rest position or failed/misadjusted Parking Brake switch will light up the red brake light) ?

Other than that, I'd pull the ABS fuse and see what happens (not sure though if in '94 the ABS circuit has been tied with others...which was not the case in '93)..
with out ABS you fall back to a normal braking facility..BTW, my ABS has been off-duty for years...I do not complain.

Re: abs light 94apv

If only shoes were changed at rear, then bleeding is not required. However, reajusting brakes shoes..provided the auto adjust system was properly reinstalled...requires you brake relatively hard while in reverse..at low speed, and do it 12 to 20 times: this is the only way the autoadjust will tighten the adjustment: it works only in reverse. . Loose adjustment makes unmatched fluid flow between front and rear (requires too much travel for the rear brakes) and lights up the red brake light.
The ABS problem is a separate issue.

Re: abs light 94apv

I have a 93 Chev Lumina apv, the abs light was on and a front hub was making noise. E replaced the hub, the teeth that the abs looks at were all gummed up. With the new hub on, the abs started working again. I personally prefer to drive in the winter without abs, I can stop much faster without it, in very slippery conditions.
