Several times over the last couple years my battery is completely dead after sitting overnight. Had alternator replaced, had traveled to a small town and as soon as I got there the battery was dead. Fine for a few months. Then this problem started. Replaced alt again and then had old one checked at pep boys, they said it was fine. At least I saved it, now have a spare. Still had dead bat problem occasionally after that.Overnight charging with my 2 amp charger charges it fine. Local mechanic 'fixed' it for $50, no problem for a year, said something about a wiring harness problem common to these cars, sounds a little fishy to me. Now dead again. The battery was new before all this started, now its 2 years old, good clean connections,no other elec problems, nothing left on, Have worked on cars a lot in my 50 years, I think its draining thru something I've heard about, body or static drain module. What does it look like? A month ago I left it parked for 3 weeks, started right up.Now this. Help

Disconnect battery at main distribution post...near the power brake booster at firewall..and use an ammeter between cable and post to check for current when all if supposedly off. The computer will keep about 20 milliamps. If there is more current, pull fuses one after another until drain ceases.
DO you have an automatic load leveller? There have been several cases of the auto leveller compresser starting to operate randomly..and this would drain battery rather fast. If you find nothing, pull the fuse (ELC) for that item and see what happens next.
you did not mention engine type...so


There is no magic: current has to go somewhere....

Sir, am testing as well as I can with my tiny voltmeter, one strange thing so far, one of the smaller wires bolted down to the ecm, under the positive cable, has a very good connection to ground.Tested with battery unhooked. It is not the smallest wire, but a bigger one that splits into 2 and goes into harness. Have pulled courtesy light fuse and radio fuse so the inside and glove box lights and radioclock wont mess with me. The underhood light is unplugged also.........Still checking.

..mmm...I hope you mean you're testing using the ammeter scale....with battery connected...
I don't want to presume..but if you need more info about using the ammeter scale without blowing fuses or the tester itself (unexperienced users often will end up with that result)...please feel welcome to ask for more indications....
