Need Some Advice on how to Fix my suspension problem...

I have a 95 Prelude SI that I lowered 4 years ago. Since the lowering, I've put about 30,000 miles on her. She gets stored every winter and is in really good shape-or was. I have spent over four grand on the suspension...lowering her 2" at first and now back up a little to 1.25" total drop. The reason for me doing this was b/c my suspension "gave out" one day-the rear pass. quarter panel got dented from the inside by the Upper control arms. Since then, I have put in new springs (Eibach pro-kit), new shocks (Tokico HPs/blues), new bump stops, and poly. bushings. However, the one thing that has not been replaced since when I first dropped her is the adjustable camber kit (upper control arm bushings). These were squeaking REALLY bad and one mechanic lubed them w lithium grease. However, nothing seems to be fixing the problem(s)...
  • my shock mount towers under the hood are literally reshaping from the upper control arms hitting them
  • the driver's side is sitting 1/8-1/4 inch lower than the pass. side
  • I think I may have knocked (or are in the process of) knocking a motor mount loose b/c she is sitting so low.
  • A sudden oil leak started (at only 88K),swear this is from her bottoming out
  • my back seat is literally sitting on the trailing arm (you can see from underneath the car)
No one is being honest with me about my vehicle's problems! Why?! And what could this possibly be caused by???

Thanks,
Heather

Sounds like someone slammed the heck out of that car. How old are the shocks? You probably need to replace them with some stiffer ones and possibly get new control arms. It's hard for us to say without seeing it. If it was my car, I'd go through and replace shocks, arms, and shock mounts.

Re: Need Some Advice on how to Fix my suspension problem...

I already had the whole suspension redone last fall. I even took out the 2inch springs and went with the Eibach Pro kit (total drop of 1.25"), and got new Tokico Shocks, and also put in all poly. bushings. The only thing that has not been replaced is my adj. camber kit. These bushings were squeaking so bad at one point that the mechanic lubed them up w/lithium grease. After all these replacements, the car is still "sinking".

My Gallery: slhe0202 I posted a lot of the pictures I have of the car and damage I'm experiencing. If anyone has any advice on what I can do to solve these issues, pls let me know!!!!

Note: She is currently sitting 1/8-1/4 inch lower on the driver's side (so any/all the damages are worse or more noticeable on that side).

If the car isn't even on both sides then something must be bent/broken. Of maybe the bushings are so bad that it prevents the suspension from compressing fully.

Re: Need Some Advice on how to Fix my suspension problem...

ok, i looked at the pics... even though they are crappy and hard to tell what your lookig at, i think your best bet is to ditch the car... the upper control arm did so much damage to your unibody structure it would
1. Be an ass ton of money to pay a good body shop to fix
2. be unsafe if you fixed it yourself

so i say either get a sound body and swap everything over (except the suspension, it sounds like its junk) or sell the car and be done with it

I Agree With Greenblurr93 It Sounds As If That Unibody Is Fucked Swap The Body And Destroy Whats Left Of The Old One

Question Re: Need Some Advice on how to Fix my suspension problem...

Speaking of the Unibody... this is the stuff I don't know much about (I've pretty much learned all this crap about suspension b/c of all these problems)...

I am questioning if my frame is bent... either do to the body twisting (body roll???). What is exactly composed of the unibody? B/c the whold under body of the car is all scraped up from me bottoming out.

I will post some pics of the whole suspension like someone asked... not sure quite what you meant but, I'll go play around with my camera a little!!!

Re: Need Some Advice on how to Fix my suspension problem...

you dont have a frame... a unibody is basically one piece that relys on all the other pieces to give it strength (thats the REAL non-technical explination). and yes, depending on how damged the underbody is, it could screw with your car.

Re: Need Some Advice on how to Fix my suspension problem...

I Had A Mustang And Was In A Slight Wreck It Fucked The Unibody Up, I Fixed The Body Panels, The Car Was Never Right Again, The Doors Never Closed Right Again And It Always Pulled Hard To One Side. The Gaps In The Fender Wells Were Never Close To The Same They Were All Different Measurements From The Tires, I Miss It, But I Got My Civic After That And Now All I Miss Is Going Fast,
