I'm helping a buddy remove his engine to rebuild it. We have it all unbolted and unpluged all elec.. took out all 6 bolts on flywheel for tourque convert and hooked up the cherry picker and started to lift it out. Engine and trans seperate a little then it hangs up due to the flywheel and T/C not pulling apart from each other.

I've pulled 15-20 engines and so has he. We were told to look for a snap ring or clip. We both have never heard of this before.

When we pull it out it comes out about 2-3 inches and then stops cold. It looks like the T/C is still connected. Prying on the flywheel is bad in so many ways but we decided we would just buy a new one and tried to pry them apart. They wont move. This car is from out west here and has no rust anywhere. 70k miles. Any thoughts?

When a buddy an I pulled his engine we pulled the whole shebang... engine, tranny and transfer case then separated them on the "bench".

We would like to just remove the engine. We removed the eng/mounts and have shifted the engine lower and jacked the trans up and down, but still we have only made 1/32" seperation. Everything has been lined up, left, right, etc... This cant be this hard.

Torque converter had a 1 1/2" output shaft forward with a retain/spring/clip real stiff. What a joke. like the two are going to fall apart while bolted up. All finished Thanks for input guys.

Glad you got her separated. If anything I'd rather Mitsu overbuild them than under build them.
