help w/ my 85 monte v6

well, a few months ago my car started dying (what i mean by dying is that it will no longer accelerate, but the engine will still be running, and then about 15 seconds later die) for no apparent reason. it happens a lot while going down the interstate, although its not only when i am. i can be at a constant 70mph and then it suddenly die and i am forced to put it in neutral and cut the engine off and try to recrank it or have to pull off on the side of the road. but it also seems to do this when i accelerate more than normal acceleration (ie: getting on it). for the past few months i cant figure out what to do with it and ive been looking for a forum to post this on, and now i have. some other info on my car is its bone stock and has 226,000 miles. ive had very few and minor problems with my car, but this problem has me perplexed.

any ideas?

Thx

hey i have a 85 monte carlo ss too. lately when i start it, it will start then die then i start it again and it starts fine. but if i shut it off and go into some place like after i get gas or whatever and come out like 5 or 10 minutes later it won't start no matter what so i have to leave it alone for 30 or 40 minutes then start it. it sucks!!!!!

Replace the control module in your distributor,it`s cutting out on you, soon you won`t be able to restart the car.
