Re: 98 ws6
I don't have an answer for why. I do know that it didn't affect performance. It was just the muffler they used in '98.
It is a single exhaust past the y-pipe anyways.

Re: 98 ws6
Wish i had one that nice...
Welcome Chris. Nice car. Is it well taken care of? Hows it run? Lets hear some braggin about you car. You know you want to.
The exhaust you have now is called single inlet single outlet. The next step up according to popular opinion is called single inlet dual outlet. The performance on dual outlets isnt any better than what you have. Its just louder, heavier and holds more heat under the car. Dual exhaust with a crossover close to the motor IS the only performance upgrade option IMO. Really single exhaust is okay. If it can work for a Vette it can work for a T/A.
A 1974 pontiac with a "ZX" motor pushed out 215 HP with single exhaust and 250 HP with dual exhaust. But back in the day THERE WAS ACTUAL ROOM for dual exhaust under a car. Two identical cars with the same exact motor if they had option for both single and duals, has two seperate power ratings for each exhaust configuration.

Re: 98 ws6
There is room for a dual system on the 4th gen.
Just VERY tight.

Re: 98 ws6
Custom.
Kooks longtubes, QTP manual cutouts, custom true duals with Magnaflow mufflers.
Dual cutouts won't work well on most cars. The stock LS1 doesn't utilize them. It would gain a bit from a single cutout after the y-pipe.
