When checking the tightness of the studs on my hubs I realized one is completely snapped and another is pretty much gone. Now I need to remove a portion of the bolt from inside the mechanism. Apparently this has happened before. I was thinking of replacing the studs with bolts of the same pitch and length. Has anyone done this before and do you anticipate any problems with this.

I bought some 40mm long socket head bolts a few months ago. Will be replacing the studs this weekend. I think at least one of the studs has snapped as there's a bit of a grease film on it.

The new bolts are the same grade as original, jus a little bit shorter. Hopefully they're just the right length.

nope no problems. all still tight too. Make sure you use some thread lock type goop or a good lock washer.

My Warn hubs actually came with bolts instead of studs. No problems so far. They have been on the truck about a year.
