97 MC with 3.1 antifreeze problem/antilock lightthe1snakeman 02-04-2007, 06:31 PM Hi there. I have a '97 Monte Carlo LS 3.1 and last year I replaced the thermostat and got new brakes. Last month I had a new Intake Gasket along with new antifreeze and an oil change. Yesterday the car made noises as if the belt was wet (but it's freezing out) so when I looked under the hood the left side of the engine was covered in antifreeze including the belt-hence the noise. A mechanic friend said perhaps my overflow reservoir had been filled too full when the new antifreeze was added and sprayed out forcefully. He checked the hoses and all was O.K. Is this possible considering it was only like 10 degrees out yesterday? Car never overheated at all. Also, don't know if it's a coinsidence or not, but my "ANTI LOCK" light keeps coming on and staying on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. maxwedge 02-05-2007, 03:52 PM Welcome to AF. Abs must be scanned with an abs function scanner, presssure test the cooling system to check for leaks, you have one. the1snakeman 02-07-2007, 08:48 PM Thank you for your help! I finally found out what was causing the problem: my water pump went bad and I'm having it replaced first thing tomorrow! Thanks again!!! Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
