98 brakeing pulsing issues at low speedmrboston21 01-31-2007, 06:52 PM on the 98 sierria 5.7 liter i have a brake pulsing issue but only acts up at speeds under 10 mpr. this only occurs for a few seconds as i stop. I have taken out the 60 amp fuse for the anti lock brakes and the problem has not occured since. this happens on dry as well as wet pavement thoughts thanks 2000CAYukon 01-31-2007, 08:18 PM on the 98 sierria 5.7 liter i have a brake pulsing issue but only acts up at speeds under 10 mpr. this only occurs for a few seconds as i stop. Thanks MyTOY 02-02-2007, 08:16 AM My bad, mrboston do a google search on #02-05-25-006A 2000CAYukon 02-02-2007, 12:57 PM Thanks there ca-yokon actualy i live in PA but the truck does get dirty, ( 98 sierra 73,000 miles) Do i have to remove the roter to get to the sensors ?, my other thought was can i disconnect 1 at a time to see which one is causing the problem . Thanks Yes you need to remove the rotor do get at the sensor. I think if you disconnect one sensor at a time, ABS will be turned off so I don't think that will help you. //2000CAYukon mrboston21 02-02-2007, 06:49 PM Hey guys stopped buy the garage today ( i trust these guys) had them do a test drive.. because the anti lock b light dose not come on, they are thinking i may have a warped roter as i noticed when reading the bullitien you sent link u sent there were replys too this may be a issue i need to address, seems strainge though as i havent had the tires looked at or off but come to think of it, it was inspected in Oct ,if they tighten up the lugs to much they may have caused this to happen ( unknowly) i will vouch for them does this make any since thanks again GMMerlin 02-03-2007, 09:29 AM Hey guys stopped buy the garage today ( i trust these guys) had them do a test drive.. because the anti lock b light dose not come on, they are thinking i may have a warped roter as i noticed when reading the bullitien you sent link u sent there were replys too this may be a issue i need to address, seems strainge though as i havent had the tires looked at or off but come to think of it, it was inspected in Oct ,if they tighten up the lugs to much they may have caused this to happen ( unknowly) i will vouch for them does this make any since thanks again LOL. You will vouch for guys who can't distinguish the difference between a brake pulsation and an ABS activation. Pulsations in the brakes are caused by excessive lateral runout which causes thickness variation. TV will cause a pulsation concern..this can be felt anytime you apply the brakes. The unwanted ABS activation is caused by a loss of sensor input to the EBCM by the WSS..this activation will go away when the fuse for the EBCM is removed. pbellone 02-10-2007, 01:54 PM Hey guys stopped buy the garage today ( i trust these guys) had them do a test drive.. because the anti lock b light dose not come on, they are thinking i may have a warped roter as i noticed when reading the bullitien you sent link u sent there were replys too this may be a issue i need to address, seems strainge though as i havent had the tires looked at or off but come to think of it, it was inspected in Oct ,if they tighten up the lugs to much they may have caused this to happen ( unknowly) i will vouch for them does this make any since thanks again I had this same problem with my 98. I made the mistake taking it to the dealer. He told me I had two bad reluctor rings and the hub needed to be replaced on both wheels. I said OK, but save the parts. I did the voltage test described in the TSB and found only one sensor was not reading correct and I saw they never pulled the sensor and cleaned it as the TSB also recommends. Even if the sensor was bad the cost of the sensor was only $100. I went into the service department from the lot and admitted nothing, credited me back for 1 hub and almost called the police because I was calling them crooks. I sent the county prosecuter a letter to investiget them for replacing perfectly good parts. My advise, jack the truck, pull the wheel, disconnect the sensor wire, hook a meter to it and spin the hub. Don't get the volts, pull the sensor and clean it. I think its only an allen bolt holding it in. :banghead: mrboston21 02-11-2007, 09:12 PM Thanks for all the responses I am currently decicding which is best as this is my only ride right now and the weather is still cold. Lucky its still very slight in nature so i hope i have a few more moths then it can take a weekend and get this looked over. 4minc 11-19-2007, 09:42 AM I had this same problem with my 98. (Pulling into parking places is getting a little hairy) Originally I was thinking the problem may be in my rear brakes but after reading this I think it may be dirty sensors. What happens when I remove the fuse from the EBCM? I am assuming that my anti-lock brakes will not work anymore, correct? Thanks Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
