Question Will a 70's BB starter fit a 92 K2500?

I have an old, but only used on a show car, Accel Super-tork starter which is stamped with GM# 1108776. This would appear to make this a HD starter for up to 30 series vehicles. I can't find a reference for the Accel starter anywhere. Does anyone know why this wouldn't fit a 92 K2500 with 305. I don't think the ring gear teeth quantity or starter bolt pattern have changed since then, but perhaps there's some other difference. The starter in my truck is starting to get tired. Thanks.

Re: Will a 70's BB starter fit a 92 K2500?

Well, I've answered my own question. Found a nice freshly rebuilt starter on an 80's van at the bone yard yesterday, and guess what number was stamped on the case: 1108776. Even had the correct HD heat shield on it.

Removed the old starter and was surprised how small it was. It wasn't a reduction starter, but it was almost as small with a selenoid about half the size of the one on the 1108776's.
