I read a past thread on here about someone's car sitting too low in the rear. I have that problem as well right now but my left side is sitting about an inch lower than the right side. What I want to know is is this a common problem for this generation car (93 euro)? I see some like this and some that are even front and back. I'm also noticing a rubbing sound coming from the rear end that sounds like a bulged tire because it's pulsing, not constant.
Any thoughts?
Are the monoleafs expensive to replace?

Your problems are related to the fiberglass transverse-mounted leaf spring in the rear. There are pads on the ends where it contacts the rear spindles that over time either wear out or fall apart that will cause the noise you are describing, as well as making the car sit uneven. As these springs get old, they weaken and will cause it to sit low. New GM monoleafs are big $$$, but there are aftermarket companies that offer replacements for less than half want GM wants ($500+ for the GM depending on what suspension code you have).

yeah it'll eventually happen to just about every 1st Gen Lumina...just think of it as a free lowering mod!!

Hehe, yeah, that's one way of thinking about it.
Anyways, I sort of received a quick fix for the lower rear end. My mechanic installed these custom made teflon shims to go in there and raise it back up. It was free, last's long and is done within seconds.
