I'm an idiot! Distributor?
Ok, so here's my last post:
Hi guys, I have an 86 CRX that is having problems. There have been a few times recently when starting took longer than usual because it seemed to be getting some gas, but not much at all. But after about 15 seconds it will finally get enough and start up. Then, about 2 days ago, I got in the car, started it up but it died ( this happens alot as the car won't stay running unless I give it gas after just starting up) But, then it wouldn't restart, just turn over, but didn't sound like it was getting gas. I went back the next morning when it was about 15 degrees out and it started right up. Drove it all day today, then went and got in it tonight, it started, I took off and after about 2 blocks, I could tell something was weird while shifting, it stopped getting gas and died again. I waited a few hours and it still won't start. Could it be the fuel pump? I heard something about the main relay, but don't know if the 86 CRX has the same problem or what?
So, first off, I decide to take it to the shop and tell him it might be the main relay and I look like an idiot because its a carbureted engine. But, I haven't done any work on this car, paid 800 bucks for it and just didn't even pay attention. The guy says its the distributor he thinks. A couple of days goes by and he gets two wrong distributors. So he replaces the fuel filters, cap and rotor, plugs and says it should be ok. It ran fine for two days then died again. It started back up after a little while though. Odd thing is that I drove it an hour each way to work for two days and it was fine. But, it seems to be after a go to the gym, start it up when its very cold out and let it die because not giving it enough gas that it seems to die.
So, does this sound like the distributor?
