Should the suspension posts go to suspension companies? The drivetrain posts to drivetrain companies? Why just tires?
Luke treated the posts as either ordering or not ordering something...complete with Tirerack Logo, etc...not really a forum atmosphere.
I think we'd like to post "Hey, I got those new rubbers I was waiting on..."
and the replies like "How are they in the rain/mud...etc?"
The way other mods are discussed.
Besides....I'd say the first thing a newbie wants to know 50% of the time is "What size tire can I fit?"
You can have a FAQ section...and just list answers...but they might never interact/join the group....just get it and go.
You lose converts/enthusiasts that way...If they have to interact...and they hear "Rocks"...and "Lockers" and "Gears" (Oh My!)...they can get curious/hooked...and want to participate....this is good for the advertisers (increased readership), and good for the sport (Increased market share = Increased product attention to the segment)...and even good for the participants...(we find people to froad with, share good spots, etc.)
Every one sees ads for tires on TV, Mags, etc...They come here to hear what the guys in the trenches (Ditches?) are using/recommending (Real world input).
(I've been ordering from Tirerack since around 1979 or so...and think they're great...don't get me wrong...I just think a forum treating tires the same as shocks or lift kits is the way to go.)
Hey?!?!
Who stuck this soap box under me?
