95 Altima - Heater blows cold airsilenth 01-16-2007, 12:25 PM I live in Cleveland and we have had an unseasonably warm winter. I am quite certain however that a week ago my heat was working fine. I was driving home form work when i noticed that 10 mins into the drive my blower was blowing cold air. I immediately looked to see if my car was overheating and if there was any lights. I increased the climate control temp and nothing happened. I stopped into a auto parts store and saw the reservoir was empty but that the radiator had coolant in it. I then checked the oil and it was BONE dry so i grabbed 4 quarts of oil and some coolant. i put the oil in and then started the car, filled resivoir and topped off radiator (it was only down to the neck about 2 inches low). I then checked the heater and still it blows cold air. Being that i am not really all that mechanical i felt i would wait to see what happened in the morning (as if it would heal itself) and still it blows cold air. I have read that you can put the car on an incline, remove the radiator cap, start the car and let it run for 30-45 mins to clear out any bubbles in the system. Do you think this will help or is there somthing else i should try? Thanks in Advance! Silenth jimmy-Hands-on 01-20-2007, 09:37 PM When was the last oil change? I think: Coolant may be sucked into piston (and burned) thru head gasket - the exhaust should be yellowish/white smoke. The oil could be sucked into --- and burned too - you should have blueish smoke. if "No heat" still exists after both losses of coolant and oil are fixed, the water pump is possible failed. but while fixing head gasket, can have water pump fixed at the same time - depends on mechanics, you may get little dicount on the charge of water pump work.
