1995 tahoe no speedo/tach tranny

My tahoe 1995 has an electrical problem. The speedometer, tachometer, gear select illumination, trans lockup stopped working. At first it was intermittent now it hasn't worked for months.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Re: 1995 tahoe no speedo/tach tranny

I have the same truck/problem, only mine is still intermitant. Mechanics have told me that the symptoms are a result of the ECM shutting down. When this happens, the ignition timing goes to default, the gauges quit, and this trips the safe mode in the tranny. When its intermittant, it is because there is a ground that is loose. If you dont find the problem, it will eventually pop the ECM. Replacing the ECM without finding the original problem will have the same result.
I have not solved this yet, it has only happened twice over two years.

Re: 1995 tahoe no speedo/tach tranny

Welcome to the forum to both of you. These problems can be caused by loose grounds, poor ECM connections, chaffed wiring or the ignition switch. The ignition switch has 5 different contacts that power stuff. So if you can't find any thing else including fuses (if you suspect a fuse replace it) then consider the ignition switch.............Steve

Hey guys check for 12volts on the trans fuse #20 (red 10 amp fuse on the bottom row) the fuse panel is located on the drivers side of the dash. If 12volts is not present replace the ignition switch. If fuse is blown or continues to blow look for other issues
