94 4.3 V6 Swap with 92 5.7 V8

I have a 92 c2500 cargo van with a 5.7 liter V8 and a 700R4 tranny. I also have a 94 K1500 with a 4.3 liter V6. Both motors and Transmissions are shot over 200K miles on each.
I would like to swap the motor and tranny from the van to the truck. Ihave the transmission issues worked out. Thye questions I have are envolving TBI verses carb. Can I put an over size cam in a TBI motor. I have heard otherwise but haven't ever tried it. I know the intake manifold has to be changed to go to Carb but what else? Is it worth the hassle to swap to carb?
I have to bore the block and get the heads resurfaced but where do I go from there?
If anyone has a clue pleasse help.

You have to be really careful with your cam choice for a TBI. Lobe Seperation Angle, LSA, is the biggest concern IIRC.

I know several of guys on the 9C1 list with TBI cars have bought a stock LT1 cam and installed that in their TBI engines with success. Expect to have to do some PROM tuning to get the best performance possible.

Re: 94 4.3 V6 Swap with 92 5.7 V8

A friend of mine just swapped a 93 caprice engine into his 94 C1500 pickup. He had to get the brackets for the v-8 for 94 as the v-6 brackets would not work. He bought a new fan shroud and 4-core radiator. He used the same transmission-700r4- that was in the truck. The prom in the computer was swapped put for a v-8 prom. He kept the tbi as it is much better than a carb for this application.Your exhaust manifolds should work ok. Your van brackets might work in the truck. Does your van have a roller cam? My friend is very pleased with this swap.

What about putting a carb on it? will that be possible for a former throttle body motor?

Re: 94 4.3 V6 Swap with 92 5.7 V8

well if i understand this correctly, you want to basically hop up the motor with a new cam and want something cheap for fuel delivery to keep up with tha cam? if you want to do it cheap and easy, just throw a holley 750 cfm carburetor on there. for performance it will kick the crap out of the stock throttle body setup and it will have more than plenty of flow for any streetable cam. even a 650 would probably work if you are keeping the cam relatively tame, as in it doesnt lope like a raped ape. of course there are plenty of aftermarket fuel injection setups out there that will match or surpass the performance of the carb but they are way more expensive than a good old fashioned carb. in some cases the best way to go is the simplest way you can
