94, brief smell of gas when starts

I noticed this a few days ago, after I had a brake inspection oddly enough, its only when im starting the car and have the heater on, there is a brief smell of gas, maybe for 30sec or a minute then its gone with driving, I might notice it briefly again while after driving but not usually.

I should prob get it checked out right? but what are they going to look for, might they say some shit and charge me and not let me go until I have it done

any advice appreciated

peace
jack

Open the hood and use a flashlight and look around the fuel lines and fuel injectors for a gas leak. Otherwise take it to a garage you use for other repairs and ask them to look. Ask them to show you the problem before paying to have it fixed.

Re: 94, brief smell of gas when starts

hey guys

well I was smelling it pretty bad today, so I stopped by a garage and opened the hood when the engine was off and i could hear a hissing sound from the top of the engine/throttle body, and it smelled like gas, i didnt want to start it again cause it was coming out from the pressure

the garage is taking a look at it, going to tell me whats wrong tommorow, he said something like they might have to replace all the lines in the car cause they come in a set or something, and its 6hrs work, thats completely ridiculous cause that would be about a thousand dollars and its not worth it, could anyone give me any advice here, im really stumped

thanks, peace

I would ask some repair shops in the area as the time sounds excessive. As I didn't see your car a lot depends on how rusty the fuel line is. Goodyear makes 100psi fuel line hose for around 1 or 2 dollars a foot. You could buy a piece of copper tubing and a couple crimp connectors and a small tubing cutter and do it your self. It depends on what is damaged. What is your capability to do your own work?
The shop maybe figuring a complete new fuel line. This you should find out.
