instrument panel light

hey i was wondering if anyone knew if there a screw-in bulb behing the tachometer on a 1997 GMC Jimmy. The bulb went out and i was wondering if it was screw-in or soldered. also how do you get the cluster out. i tried and the only screws i seen were above the cluster on the hood part and there were only two. are those the only ones i need to take out? thakns for any help.

Re: instrument panel light

The bulb is a #194. The panel under the steering column needs to be removed. That will expose the screws that retain the cluster bezel. Remove the bezel and you will see the 4 screws that retain the cluster itself. Gently pull it out and unplug the electrical connector. If you have tilt wheel, tilt it all the way down. If you have column shift, move the shifter to 1st gear. Remove the cluster.
