Re: power window slow..

or your power window motor is dying.

The power windows on cavaliers tend to go pretty quick, the drivers side on my 2000 z24 had been replaced twice.

Mine started going slow.. then one day it stopped near the top, but i was able to get it all the way up after a waiting a few seconds/minute. It was on and off like that, then about 2 weeks later it died completely.

They usually die when the windows down all the way and its about to start raining, so best to have it replaced if it starts to give you trouble.

Cost me about $175CND to have it replaced.

Re: power window slow..

well mine did the same thing so i removed the door panel and lubed the track the window is on and now it works, and the moter burns up like that because the track was not lubed and caused too much work for the moter to roll the window up and down. so try that and get back with us

Re: power window slow..

well since you have a z24 like me it has power windows and door locks so it is really easy, you just remove the screws and lift the door panel up so the clips pop off the door and then unhook the wires that are connected to the panel. you dont need to remove the door handle or speakers. then there is a peice of plastic that you just pull down and you should have access to the window track from there. you just spray a good amount of the silicone spray on it and then replace everything. you dont need to remove the speakers or anything so you should be able to do it no problem.

Ok well i did it, believe it or not with the help of my girlfriend.. .. now does this take effect right away or must I wait a little while /like say a day or two ??? I really put alot of lube in the tracks.. also around the joints etc.. the thing was tho, it was a little difficult to spray lube to the other end of the tracks.. near the speaker area.. so I just added the long nozzle on the can and, sent some lube over and inside the tracks.. Hope this will help. If not i will go get a new motor at the scrap.. But hopefully not..lol..

Ill keep you posted.. ciao and thanks

Re: power window slow..

well i tried it again and, it still seems to slow down half way going upwards.. if i need to change the motor.. is there anything else i need to remove from the panel.. I mean i remove the see-through plastic thats there and, then what.. how do i proceed.?? Obviously i need to hook it up on the inside to make the window work.. how exactly do i hook it up?? Is there an easy way to do this.. I mean i shouldnt bring this to the dealer right ??.. Im half way there in doing this. Can you give me some few tips.. and if i get a used motor how much can it cost me.. roughly.?? Thanks for all the help..
this will defenetly make me save a few bucks if i do it myself..
