Cav starts then stalls...

Soo... I go down out to start my car this morning to warm it up before I leave for work and it starts fine, go back in finish getting ready and come back out. The car isnt running. wtf? I start it back up... it runs for about 10 seconds then stalls... start it again, runs for 10 seconds, stalls. So i start it again... give it some gas.... it runs for 5 seconds then stalls. What could POSSIBLY be the problem? Last month i put in new ICM, coil packs, wires and plugs. Im sick and tired of this car and im about to burn it where it sits.

Re: Cav starts then stalls...

Same thing just happen to my daughter.

How low are you on gas? Her gauge showed 1/8 tank but she was bone dry.

Car would start but miss badly and die. I could keep the car running by pumping the gas once it started.

I added 1.5 gallons and the car ran fine. Went to the pumps and put in 13.5 gallons.

BTW, you mention "warming up the car so I'm guessing it's cold there. it was cold when this happen too.

Re: Cav starts then stalls...

Its not that cold here... when i say warm up, i mean get the windows defrosted and get the motor warmed up.. There is plenty gas in the tank so thats not the problem.... im thinking its one of the injectors or something... who knows... back to the repair shop it goes.

I had all that stuff installed about 2 months ago. The car worked fine... even yesterday, it drove fine... just this morning it started stalling. I have a feeling it is the injector... cause I smell gas... 20 ft away from the car and I smell gas (only when its running)... and one of the injectors is wet with gas. ill try replacing that and see what happens.

Re: Cav starts then stalls...

Does it stall while you're holding the gas, or will it keep running as long as your foot is on it?

It stalls no matter what I do, gas or no gas. It stays on abit longer when I give it gas a bit.

Exclamation Re: Cav starts then stalls...

if you relace 1 you should do the others because when you put it back together the others will leak most likly then you'll have to tear it back down..
good luck.

Re: Cav starts then stalls...

Have you checked the PCV valve to see that its working and not clogged. You might also want to check the EGR valve to see if its working properly.

pcv valve is on the right side of the valve cover, the egr valve is on the side of the cylinder head
