hello all-
my 93 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham will not start. But it was not sitting for a long time. I pulled it in, turned it off, and tried to restart within 30 seconds but it would not turn over. All electric still works (lights, keyfab, radio, etc.).
Any ideas? It is pretty high miles (195,000), but was running fine. Had no struggles starting previously. Thanks in advance!

You'll have to describe in more detail. Is the starter engaging? Is it trying to turn over but its wimpy? Is there just a click? Is there no sound or anything at all?

sorry... there really is no sound at all. all the electric turns on (dash lights, radio, etc), but nothing from the engine bay like a click or wimpy starter. anything else you need? thanks

could be the security system is on the fritz, could be the starter. Unfortunately the starter is underneath the intake manifold, so there is no easy way to tap on it to check.

is there some way to check the info code (probably wrong term)? i know on my 92 wrangler, if i turn the key three times, the check engine light will flash out a code. is there something similar to this on my caddy? thanks...

93 would be OBD1. There is a way to flash codes, you short out two pins on the diagnostic connector.

well the tow truck has already come. first he tried to use a power box thing to jump start it, but that did nothing (again, the power all works fine-lights, radio, etc). then he got under the car and we tried tapping on the starter while starting. no luck. so, the truck took it and i will hopefully know by this afternoon from the shop... but please let me know if you have any other ideas or knowledge to share. trying to do this on a college budget too, so please inform me of anything i should know. thanks a lot.

ahhhh....fleetwood! I assumed it was a northstar motor. That was the only caddy that had a LT1 aka rear wheel drive. Starter is exposed on that one

My guess is the starter is bad.

Sounds like the starter or the pass key system. My 96 Impala has both problems. The pass key chip is so worn that it doesn't make good contact, and the starter is on its way to death.

Uncle Bob... didn't the D/B-bodies keep the TBI 305/350 until 94? The rest of the line did, but I'm not sure about Caddy.
