I seriously doubt it. If you watch the video he has posted the IP cluster is a metric model like used up in Canada. It is reading kph on the outer scale not mph. In order to read above the mechanical limits of the analog speedometer he would need a HUD which has a digital readout that can be switched between metric and English.
BTW - Your post title has been edited to read mph.
Yeah, I agree w/ him^^^^. Theres no way he hit 190mph, he was going by kmph which 190kmph is realy like 120mph. I hit 167mph in my GTP and i didnt have to many rpms left to go before I redlined..at least thats what the Heads-up-display said anyway, and im pushing about 260whp and 330fpt w/ a stock tranny....I know zzp has a turbo grand prix thats close to 200mph but it has a rebuilt racing trans and block and pushing a lot more than 304 HP, its also the fastest fwd 3.8L and runs the 1/4 in 9.01 @ 150mph. Does anyone know how to tell theoritically how fast a GTP will go condiering it has stock tranny and gearing? I know There is a mathematical way to figure it out but im to lazy......
It is a simple ratio problem. For example, if at 3000 rpm you do 70 mph, at 6000 rpm you can do 140 assuming you have enough horseporwer and no slippage.

yeah theres more to it than that though...it depends on what gear you are in also....there's a more complicated way that you factor in the gearing the car has, horsepower, redline, ext....
If at 3000 rpm you do 70 mph in high gear, at 6000 rpm you can do 140 assuming you have enough horsepower and no slippage.
I assumed that the redline in the example was 6000 and that the car was capable of reaching the redline with whatever axle ratio was installed ("enough horsepower).
I also assumed standard tires, not racing slicks. There is no appreciable increase in tire size as speed increases as is the case with a drag race slicks.
The funny things is when you watch that burn out, he has the e break on the whole time. That tells me the car cant burn out that far with out it being on.
I watched that video and his car was doing 110 mph. I had a 2005 Saturn Ion Red Line Supercharged 2.0L I4 205 hp. I sure do miss that car but it was a real headache and had nothing but problems, saturn later bought it back from me after I had put 12k miles on it.
I don't belive that. It's probably a misfire because the engine is running at such a rich mixture at that high of a speed, my GA SC/T does the same thing around 125 mph. I also had a supercharged Saturn Ion Red Line that did the same thing.

Every 98-03 grand prix will through a SES light when you put in a reprogrammed computer unless you used a powertuner and tuned it yourself.
I had a caselearn done on my car after i put in a zzp pcm and the SES went off....and ive never had the check engine light come on at high speeds on my GTP...go to streetfire.net and watch all the GTP videos that show 0-60 or 0-150mph runs with the camera on the gauge cluster and 95% of them will have the SES light on the whole time b/c of this reason of not having a caselearn...and you owned i Grand am and Satarn hey are both GM but not the same exact cars or have the same pcm programs as a GTP so its going to be different.
Well just to prove a point I've watched 10 different videos. Very time consuming I must say to find some that are decent in length and show what I want to see. But non of these video's show a check engine light flashing. Now what is the point in getting the pcm flashed? Raising the top speed cut out? More hp/torque?? You state the ses light being on. What I am talking about is the SES light flashing. A flashing light is a misfire. A steady light is obvisouly what the car sees as a malfunction in the emmissions. So i think we might be talking about two differnt items here. lol I just wanted to make sure we're on the same page. By the way, I noticed that the speedos only go to what, 120 on the GTP? Must have to use the HUD to see your actually speed then huh?

Also, is that his Check Engine Light on the whole time he is accelerating? That's got to be good for the car....
Also the temp guage is reading stone cold and the tach actualy shows a drop in rpm to 4000 as he accelerates past 175. 190kph=118.06mph. I had my tired old 96 SE 3.1 over 105mph this fall while going thru Montana.

If the check engine light is flashing then yes it is probably something else...but if it was just on then it usually is b/c they had the pcm replaced...And yes i have a Heads-up-display on my car and it will go past 120mph on the HUD but the spedometer only will read up to 120..so if you dont have a HUD you dont really know how fast your going after 120mph...
