1993 astro tranny into 1997 tahoe 4x4??

Got a 1997 tahoe 4x4 with 350 that's in great condition....except for the tranny.
Got a 1993 astro 2wd with 4.3 that's in not so good condition, but has a rebuilt tranny.

How possible is it to switch these out??? Could i just switch tailshafts for the 4wd?

I'm pretty sure both are 60e tranniies

Will not fit,it is probally 1997 only.Call any autosalvage yards, they should have an interchange book called a Hollander.Price a transmisson rebuild also for the 1997 transmission,it might be cheaper that way.The worst part is getting the plug ins out of the safety nuetral switch. The plug ins do not come out 99.9% of the time

Another vote for won't work. The 93 is a 4L60. The 97 would be a 4L60E. Physically they would interchange. But your computer in the Tahoe would control the trans. The 93 wouldn't have this ability.

I didn't think they would work, but it was worth a shot. I was pretty sure the 93 astro was controled via electric b/c i know our '92 was not. thanks.

Even if they did fit and the electronics were the same which most were a little different the 5.7/350 needs a 350 transmission. The 4.3 were usually a lighter built transmission.

This will not work,,,one is a electronic valve body,,, the other is hydraulic,,,,if your REALLY HANDY,,, the guts are similar and could be interchanged between the different cases and valve bodies

1993 was Astro first one or had the first 4L60-E electronic transmissions but a long ways from a 1997 4L60-E electronic and from a V6-V8 lot of difference.
