2004 Avalanche

Can anyone assist me please? My dashboard lights where the gas gauge, temperture, mileage and all keep flashing in and out like it have a shortage. I don't know what to do, and i want to be able to decribe to the mechanic what sort of problem i think it is. Do anyone knows what could be the problem?

Make sure the cables on the battery are tight. Sometimes they can get loose and make things go crazy. Also make sure there is no corrosion on these connections. If there is corrosion, then disconnect cables and clean them with a wire brush. If they are tight, then check your fuses. If those all check out, then you may have a bad ground. Follow the (-) cable coming off of the battery and see where it is connected to the vehicle chassis. Make sure there is a tight and clean connection here. These are the obvious things to check, if all these check out then it may be time to visit a good mechanic or the dealer. Let us know how you make out. Thanks,

The flashing, suggests intermittent electrical connection. (Loose connection to electrical power source) Just what you said is what you should tell an automotive electrical technician. Not necessarally an automotive mechanic
