Loose Steering

I recently purchased a 1996 Rodeo V6 LS with 127,000 miles. When driving at any speed, I am having to constantly move the steering wheel around to keep the truck on the road. In other words, there is a ton of play in the steering.Tires are new. Front axles and CV boots replaced six months ago. Good tires. Wheel alignment in August 06'. I appreciate any help.
I am not sure about shocks?

Re: Loose Steering

Bad shocks will for sure give you a sense of wondering/floating and you will find yourself making lots of corrections and having to truly concentrate.

But I can't say I felt my steering was loose, just that my steering was excessive due to the floaty, not feeling like you were gripping surface type sensation.

Re: Loose Steering

Hi,
What brand of tyres are they?
Iv'e had this problem with Goodyear Wranglers, they don't like being over/under inflated

Re: Loose Steering

Have you tried jacking the front up, get someone to hold the steering wheel and see if you can move the wheels side to side?
Shouldn't be any play there, if there is, suspect the steering rack.
