on foot...tranny question

Hi, i'm new here and hope i do it right.

my 96 tahoe was drowning in raw fuel. took it to the shop. after replacing
everything in the fuel delivery system, they decided the computer was
holding a couple of injectors open. they put in a computer from a salvage
yard which does seem to have solved the fuel problem, but now the tahoe
will move only in 2cd gear or reverse. (automatic). the shop threw up their
hands and said i must have brought it in with a tranny problem. 1600 bucks
later and i'm on foot. I believe the computer is causing the tranny to do this,
(maybe limp mode?) does that sound reasonable? no check engine lights. i got all my old parts back, and am trying to decide what to do now.

thanks for any help. old coot

I have never heard of the ecm holding injectors open. Did you have the problem with the trans before the ecm swap, if not try your old ecm, the replacement may be defective, or not programed for your tahoe. There is a tsb from gm on the trans problem, the ignition switch was causing it, cannot remember if your year was effected by the problem though.

Thank you for the response. ecm holding an injector
open is a new one on me too. even after replacing all
injectors, 2 still spewed fuel. at that point, they had
already replaced the pressure regulator.

not drowning in fuel now, but the transmission was
working perfectly when i turned it over to them. it
started having problems right at the point they
changed computers.

going to take my original computer to the dealer
monday and ask about the hold open problem and
see if a re-program will help. thanks again for the
