Could someone tell me where I might find the thermostat on a 3.1L,1997 Grand Am with an Automatic transmission.

The thermostat should be on the front of the engine on the driver side. Follow the upper radiator hose to the block and where it attaches is where the thermostat is located. To get to it you will have remove an assortment of parts.
