Difference between Camaro's
I was looking into buying a 1998-2002 Camaro SS or a 1998-2002 Camaro z28. I plan on moding the car out to street race it. Is there a major difference between the cars. Im hoping to buy one with the LS1 in it.

Re: Difference between Camaro's
essentialy a Z28 was a Camaro with a V8, it also had posi. the SS started life a s a Z28, and they threw a hood, spoiler, 17 inch rims, a better flowing muffler, and slightly different suspension components on. all SS's are Z28's
all 98-02 ss or z28 are ls1 cars

Re: Difference between Camaro's
Yeah, just get a Z28, it will be cheaper. Unless you just really like the look of the SS. But like Gold said, the SS is just a little better from the factory, but if you plan on modding it, both cars are the same except for looks.

The 98-02 Trans Am/ WS6 has the Ls1 as well.
The WS6 package for the Firebird is the same as the SS package for the Camaro.
The Firebird/TA/WS6 weighs more than the Camaro/Z28/SS.
Other than looks, the Pontiac is not really that different from the Chevrolet.

Re: Difference between Camaro's
however, if you dont wanna go through the hassle of changing springs, rear ends (prolly will if you wanna seriously drag it), rollbars and a bunch of other things, make sure you do look into Ss's..sometimes they're cheaper. (like in my case )
