90 safari awd no "service engine soon" light

was trying to by pass the washer fluid pump and I think I blew the computer or something . ??? must have shorted out during the troubleshooting of installing an inline switch. firstly the alternater was found to be faulty so it was replaced and still have no "service engine soon" light come on . the alt. guage still flashes the engine starts , runs rough for a little , then sort of corrects itself but still can't drive the van . it hesitates , bucks , and wants to stall . read the manual to do a diagnostic of the OBD and don't even get the intial test signal "service engine soon" light" not there when key is turned on . don't even get a trouble code 12 come up under any circumstance. can someone shed some light on my problem . jumper wire on the ALDL post A&B and still no service engine soon light . can a test be performed on these OBD-1 systems to confirm why this is happening ?

thanks for the response maxwedge . checked all fuses in and outside fuse box and no luck . this is a new task to tackle . was hoping there was a test method on the OBD1 system that could be tried before I pull the box out and start searching for a used at the bone yard.

update to the problem . changed the pcm and had no change . went into the dash and behind the fuse box I found that when it shorted out 2 wires behind the fuse box coming from the battery were arced together . can't figure why the fusible link that was in line on both wires didn't take the surge or short . hmm ??? . oh well paid $15 bucks for pcm and now have a spare . found out how obd1 systems tick and don't tick . lol
