need quick answers about TP mod!!

I have read he post about it and i just need a couple things cleared up! i have a 2000 s-10 2wd with a 4.3l vortec vin code "w" i belive. I assume the tp mod can be done on this motor i just want to double check! also, can this be done by just taking out the plate or is it better to remove the whole throttle body? last question, descreening the MAF? some say good others say bad? any final verdict? thanks in advance, hoping to get at this tomorrow

Re: need quick answers about TP mod!!

yes the mod is for the 96+ 4.3 v6 "VIN W". it is not required that the throttle body be removed but its highly recommended because its easier to work on and there is less risk of you dropping something down the intake. after removing the two torx screws, open the TB to WOT then slide the plate out the top side of the TB. The deflector is made of thin alluminum so you can cut it off with a hack saw or cut it off with a dremel. just make sure u don't mess with the rivits or the hole in the plates. o and descreening the MAF is not a good idea as it helps straighten out airflow and protects the elements in the sensor. there is really not a gain in performance with it off so its not worth risking damage to the sensor.
