Tried to order from St. Charles...

My ATF cooler lines from the rad to the first metal tube (about 12" long) are leaking. I decided to call St. Charles and order the 4 spring type clamps and the 2 rubber lines. The parts guy insisted that a pair of 90 degree hoses come off the rad. I have a '97. Was he right or is it 2 rubber lines going pretty much straight back like I currently have? Thanks for looking.

I'll just go to the local shop and replace it with whatever matches best.

Re: Tried to order from St. Charles...

well obviously you're right because that is what you have. i don't remember the size, but i remember just replacing those with hose from the parts store.

if you didn't speak to Merlin at st charles, i'd call back and talk to him. (they are open sat

Surfer - didn't you just replace those lines? Within the last 2yrs or so?

Re: Tried to order from St. Charles...

Yup. I have a leak where the clamps are on one of the hoses. Maybe I overtightened them? I switched to little screw type clamps and they seem to be cutting into the hose. That's why I wanted to switch back to the factory spring clamps and factory hose. That'll be today's little project.

Re: Tried to order from St. Charles...

I got under there this morning and the lines are dry and clean (and the tranny fluid level is good and it shifts well!). Maybe I'll let it go for awhile. I did notice my oil cooler dropping a drip of oil every ten seconds or so while I let it run looking for leaks. It looks like that has picked up a little recently. I'll have to figure out how to stop that. On my VW there is an o-ring just above the cooler, but I don't see how to separate the cooler from the flange...

Re: Tried to order from St. Charles...

If you do end up ordering them - the hose lines, let me know all the info. I attempted to do that from the Isuzu dealer here, and they had no idea what I needed. Ended up using hose lines from Napa; but can't say that they're as thick as the oem's.

Will do. I had the same guy on the phone today, so I didn't try to order them...

just ask to speak to merlin. you will wait and wait, and sometimes wait some more listening to countless st.charles' ads, but then you will more than likely get the correct info and the correct part.

Re: Tried to order from St. Charles...

I've dealt with Merlin before. He was an immense help when I got my cooling system parts. I've got some spring projects (tranny service, front pads and rotors, cooling system flush) and I'll make sure I have him help me then.
