Unhappy 93 Van nothing when I turn key - wiring Diagram

I have a 93 GMC conversion van and when I turn the key nothing happens but the gauges move and on start the volts barly wiggles, no dimming of headlights or interior lights, just nothing. I cleaned the cables and tried to charge the battery and my charger shut off after a couple minutes indicating full charge. I put my test light on the S terminal on the starter and nothing when I turned the key to start.
I bought a Haynes manual but it only shows 1991 and then jumps to 96. I don't know where or what wiring is on my 93 ? - like does my year have a starter relay ? Where can I find it ? Is there a fusible link in the wire going to the stater Solenoid and where is it ? What connections or relays are in it and where are they ? I have tried evrything to find a 93 GM van specific wiring diagram, library, library research department says there is no 93 GMC or Chev van wiring diagram in any book any where in the entire Florida Library system ! Geezzz I even went to the largest used book store in my area. Anybody know where I can find one on line ? Without paying $40 bucks to see it ? I would buy one from somewhere online but my van is on stands in my driveway ? Or what would you guys suggest I do or start with on this van start system problem ? Thanks mikedd552 in Florida.........

Best guess is the starter solenoid. It can be changed independently of the starter motor itself, I believe. It's been a long time since I've had a GM starter out and they may be different now, but that was the case back in the day.

Welcome to AF, simple check here is check for 12v at the purple wire on the solenoid when the key is is the crank position, if there bad starter, if none got to back thru the neutral switch to the ign for continuity.

Re: 93 Van nothing when I turn key - wiring Diagram

You most likely need a starter. Tap on the starter motor lightly with a hammer and see if it turns over. That tells you the brushes in the starter are down to nothing. I have owned 4 G20 vans from the 90's and put a starter in every one. The starters are cheap about $40.00 from a good rebuilder and that includes a soloniod. If you of a mind to you can put brushes in it but given that they are so cheap I don't see why you would want to.

Good Luck Billy
