well guys, i just got a new stock lt1 block..not new but as good as new lol...it gets sent off to the machine shop next week sometime to get worked...that 396 stroker kit is going on months faster than i though! my heads also will be sent out to get worked as well (i have another set as well), so the down time on my car will now be 3 days. after i get the engine and heads back, we will do the swap over the weekend. i ordered my new NOS system, and im talking about that being the brand i went with lol... not nos lol, new bottle heater, window switch (msd),nexxus gauges, thanks to my sister (merry xmas), racetronix fuel system, an upgraded coevett brake kit ( a friend found a f body - vett kitt for the upgrade), and my upgraded tranny is now going back in the car, so ill have her back this weekend. the ball is rollen now. all i need to do is get all the odds and ends for the heads, retainers, valve springs and all that good shit, go throught the specs of the stroker kit and the bore over, and figure out what specs im going with the head, so i can pair all that up with a sweet cam! oh yeah cant 4get the throttle body...need that as well, john pointed me to the right man...thanks. all thats left is have the car repainted, and im done. i cant wait to show u guys all this shit when its together! i got the new digital cam so i can make videos and get lots of pics! this is gonna be awsome!! im like a pig in shit right now....oh and how this is getting done?? i got the bonus any man would wish 4.....6k cash money in my account! i spent it as fast as i got it lol, but its all for my baby...just had to share with somebody and i figured u guys would be the only folks that would understand lol

Re: and it starts now

shes never ran the 1/4, i ran the 8th when i first got her and broke the tranny mounts...i think my best time was 9 something. i kept spinning, my reaction times sucked ass...i ran like 7 times. i had a few better runs, but not by much. that was like last feb so i cant remember the exacts, i have the slips at home. the bottom end will be forged just like my old rs,but no 200 shot this time. i think ill keep this one diled in around a 150 shot or a little less, not sure. ill have another block, so ill test the waters with this one, if it gets screwed i wont be too mad (but i will be pissed lol) its not like ill be spraying it everyday, i hit the track a few times a year, and its more to watch than race....but i will get sum new times when shes done.

A 396, huh? Sounds pretty good to me. But we need more details, such as, where are you getting the stroker kit from? Are they going to be forged internals? What about the rear end? And can I get a ride sometime?

Nice work man.. 396 huh, you went the expensive route but it is not just going to be a tad faster. That sucker is for sure going to be a beast with the right cam. Speaking of which, what cam are you putting in there and who is doing your heads?

Re: and it starts now

Why dial back the N2O? A 396 iron block with forged internals would easily handle more than a 200 shot (if done properly, duh), am I right? Isn't it speed that you're after anyways?

Re: and it starts now

sorry it took me 4ever to get back with u guys...heres the deal....this wasnt something i had planned to do. i was just going to forge the bottom end of my engine and spray it like crazy.. i fell into this deal. our shop has an engine guy who now runs our second shop we have down in ft myers.... he owed me money for a t56 tranny i had him building for me when i was doing my ls1 swap on the black rs. he came to the shop 2 weeks ago and just told me how he was building a engine for sum guy with lots of loot. well he got done, and 2 days after it was done the guy decided he wanted to go with a entire new set-up because he drove a friends car and now wanted whatever he had...so the guy gave our engine dude the engine as payment toward whatever hes now doing.... he took the thing apart because i guess somebody wanted the block, somebody wanted this and that he just does shit like that. so the stroker kit that was used on that engine he figured it would be something i wanted so he asked and i was like hell yeah.... i know nothing of it yet. he told me he had it 4 me and left 5 minutes later and i told him ill call for details later. which brings me to now...lol i wanted to pick it up from him so we can go through specs and figure out the figures that i need the guy whos machining my block. im using another friend of mines hook up for the machine work...all i know is its somewhere here in tampa...(i know nothing right lol) i have another guy up north i think thats doing the heads, hes some old school guy and i hear great shit about his work...sam friend sending me to this guy. i am forging the bottom end, and i found a wet kit that was rated from 200-350 i think thats the numbers...NOS didnt make a wet kit with everything i needed for a lt1 i couldnt beleave it. so i went with another brand and to tell the truth i dont remember what brand tnt is stuck in my head but its not that... 4give me im working off of 8 hrs of sleep in 2 days. so the spray will end up being a big shot....i wont dial it back at all now. i just got my car back from my tranny guy a day ago, and i had to deal with the headers burning my plugs.. so i didnt get the figures this weekend like i wanted to do so im going to be a week behind in sending everything out. i hope by wed ill have all the numbers to share. like i said, this is my first trip doing something like this, i wasnt thinking of ever doing this. oh and not to mention a lt1 block just fell in my lap from my tranny guy... so i dont have to deal with the car being down. sorry this is so damn long, but for those of u guys who know me, i try to give all the details so i can get better input from u guys. i respect your thoughts and if im doing something u may feel could go better another way, i really give it thought...thats why i joined here years ago...not to mention many of u hooked me up on shit from my last car. oh and john i have no clue as to what cam im going to run just yet....this may sound strange but im trying to keep this as a daily driver the best i can. i want to drive this car as much as im able to... so thats the deal as of now.

Re: and it starts now

good stuff! reminds me of what i did last year.

you didnt say anything about fuel injectors (not sure if your racetronix system includes the flow needed for a 396 at high rpm).

also have you considered beffier connecting rods? sounds like you will be at the power limit of stock connecting rods. (unless LS1s are better equipped than a standard GenII block, I'm not an LS1 guy.) just askin...

hey, i didnt know u are in tampa. I'll be moving down there in 2007. probably gonna be down there fore new years too. maybe you'll give me a ride
