Leaking Tires?

I purchased all season Continentals one year ago, last winter (205 55 R16). I find now that three of the tires are consistently loosing PSI. The tires over a week will drop from 30PSI to around 20PSI or 15 PSI. I have checked the tires and there are no nails or holes in them. Has anyone ever heard of having to have tires taken off the rims and resealed after only having them for one year? Its quite unusual.

Anyone have any information they can offer me, would be much appreciative.

maybe the valve cores are leaking. aluminum rims will corrode around bead also but doubt that is your problem after only one year,but then again if the rims were not properly cleaned up it could be .

You mean the rims could be dirty? I know they put all new valves. So I am not sure. I guess I have to get them all taken off and resealed eh?

get some water with abit of dish soap in it and apply it around the bead to see if you can spot any bubbles, air leakage. also put it on the valve stem and core .it would be alot easier to do if the wheel was off the vehicle and laying flat ,but you may get lucky doing it with it on car.

if any of the above doesnt work. inside the valve stem there is a little metal bar. use a pair of needle nose pliers and turn it clockwise until it is tight. that should do it if nothing else works.

You mean the leaking VALVE CORE???????? You can buy a valve stem cap that has the proper tightening tip on it ,cheap.

No i dont think its the valves, if anything its probably cheap sealer they put on when they installed them. There good tires just a little bit heavy for a 2.4L but oh well.
I might try to the soap but who knows maybe ill just get them all pulled off and resealed.

Welcome to the leaky tire club.

First time they done I was ready to do in my grand kids.
Because they were playing around the van about the same time the tires almost went flat.
A lot of times the rims there self leak.
Find a good tire shop and explain what they are doing.
Some of them will remove the tire and clean the rims and put sealer inside the rims.

I just called the tire shop. They stated that they need to see them. It might be a leaky valves. They said they would clean and reseal for 15 CDN a piece which isnt bad. I think im going to watch the tires for a bit and chart how much is lost. Then I can tell them and they will go from there.

I have been down that road.
The crazy things will leak for a while and the not leak for a while.
But if they are leaking you might as well bite the bullet and get them fixed.
If just the valve cores you can soap them and find the leak.
It will only hurt one time if they do a good job fixing them.

ya I guess ..........LOL, but never ever did see anyone use pliers to tighten to tighten valve core . tire shops have the proper tool but why bother to buy one for a possible one time job. i have done many tires myself over the years using the metal valve stem cap with built in adapter . they are cheap at any auto parts store . but I guess it`s a matter of whatever works for you.
15 bucks a tire,probably won`t be any cheaper ,but I would take them off and soap them myself first them if need be take them into reseal them.it mat be abit cheaper if they do not have to remove and reinstall tires on car. cold weather will also affect tire pressure but it should not be that much over a short period of time .
