Holes in air box?
Just wondering if this actually does anything besides make it louder? I have a 4.3 vortec with a k&n panel filter. Ive heard of ppl drilling 1.5 inch holes in the lower section of the air box? thoughts?

Re: Holes in air box?
Why pay $300 for something you can do in 10 min? Just cut some holes or cut a whole side off your box, as long as it doesnt interfere with filter installation. If you really want to you can put your own metal screen over the hole to block leaves/stuff. Intakes are one of the biggest rip offs.

Re: Holes in air box?
well since i had nothing better to do today, i used my dremal and cut a 2"x2" and a 2"x6.5" squares out of my air box (in front of filter), i notice slightly better acceleration, wont no if any better on gas for about a week.

Re: Holes in air box?
You could always just buy a pipe and a K&N cone air filter for about 50 bucks . Bolt it on to your mass air and save about $230 on a over priced Injen PF Series Power-Flow intake systems deliver unmatched power gains.

Well. I wonder if cold air intake increase the squeze and in turn invites a stronger squeeze and I also wonder if warm air intake allows the squeeze to bang early for a better fuel milage deal cause it offers a warmer enviroment.Seems odd that cowl induction is totally sealed from engine compartment and yet a factory car has a tac tube up to the breather.Want a better squeeze, cold outside air only, want milage, warm controlled air.thats the short story.
