There once was an 85 blazer that rolled in park it has rolled here and there and everywhere. it has a 4.3 engine and I was wondering if there is some kind of linkage adjustment so it stays put and I can stop carrying this tire brick with me.

There is room for adjustment in the linkage. You have to check for it binding and follow it down to the transmission. Curious though how do you park and get out of the truck to put the brick on the tire, I take it your parking brake doesn't work....

get a haynes manual it shows the proper procedure for adjusting the shift linkage - but im thinking the parking pawl in the tranny is shot - can happen from not using the "E" or park brake and shifting into park before coming to a complete ( dead stop )

Up here in northeastern WI we don't dare touch our E-brake or it may be opening a can of worms.

That's odd - On the other end of US29 (Menomonie/Menominee), parking brakes don't seem to have that problem. They just need to be lubed whenever the chassis lube is done, and used regularly. I've never had any trouble in Hayward or Hurley, either.

Hopefully, the linkage adjustment will do it. If the pawl linkage or shot pin is damaged, it may be repairable through the pan. If the pawl itself is damaged, the trans has to come out.

like blue bowtie said - if you lube the lines you wont have that problem - you might also want to get underneath and look at them to see if the casing has rubbed thru from contact with the frame . the transmission alone is not enough to keep a vehicle from rolling down a hill ...

procedure for adjustment ..... drivers side underneath the truck you will see the shift rod going thru the shift lever on the tranny - on one side there is a nut or bolt you need to loosen - from inside the truck put the trans in neutral , go back underneath and without moving the position of the linkage from the column shifter tighten the bolt ( works better having someone inside holding the shifter ) also the red indicator should be centered on the "N" but i have found in the case of some really bad slack in the linkage - putting the indacator more left of center helps . if that doesn't fix it - your pawl is shot at the very least .
