too much power steering fluid

i checked my ps fluid and it looked like there was nothing in there, so i put half a quart in and it started overfilling the resivor, will it be ok to drive or is there some way to get it out???

Over filling will not harm the system. The system will purge out excess fluid on its own. It'll make a mess, thats about it. With the engine off, try sticking a paper towel or a rag into the reservoir to soak up the excess fluid.
