Re: 99 Cirrus should i buy?

For what it's worth, I own a '99 Cirrus with all the "good stuff" and absolutely love the car. It has the 2.5L Mitsubishi V6 (w/70K miles) and runs great. A co-worker has the same engine in an early Sebring and he has over 250Kmiles on the original timing belt. As I recall, he said he replaced the distributor cap twice, but hasn't done anything beyond standard maintenance. His only advice to me was to replace the trans fluid every year. It's messy, but I've learned to do it myself.

I would definately buy the car for around $1500 if it comes with any kind of warranty.

BTW, the car has "transponder" keys with grey heads. Make sure you get two when you buy the car. This will allow you to buy inexpensive replacements on ebay, have them cut at a hardware store, and then program the car to accept them. I needed an extra keys for the remote-engine-starter I installed last week. (it's required to bypass the alarm).

Re: 99 Cirrus should i buy?

I bought a 98 Cirrus, with the works, power everything and black leather. Had 128k July 2, 2007 and now has 149k. Haven't had any complaints although it's not quite like new. The heater/fan only works on high. The overhead lights don't work. And I have to fill the radiator coolant about once every 5 to 7 days depending on weather. Overall though I have been very pleased with my purchase...and I got it from one of those less than reputable buy here pay here car lots.
