Looking to possibly buy a 1999 firebird

Hi everyone,

My father and I sutumbled across a 1999 firebird.
Its got the V6 engine and it is an automatic with about 103,000 miles on it.

Now according to cars.com the KBB on them is around 8,400 - 14,600.

This person is only asking 5,000.

The body looks nice, clean, straight. However it does have a plate from from the floody area of Missippi so we are wondering among other things what to look out for and or at to see if the car is worth the $$$. I am looking to buy it and mostly keep it stock "new sterio, cold air intake and better wheels and tires are about all I would add to the car".

The T tops we are told do not leak, it has the original wheels and sterio and there is no tint on the windows and was told it was driven by the wife of the owner whos buisness the car is in front of.

I really like the car but due to the low price over the KBB I am a little leary and am asking for any and all advice on what and where to look for possible problem sites on the car.

The vin # if it will help at all is 2g2fs22k7x2213622.

Thanks to any and all who add or reply to this post!

Joe

PPS The automated head light covers/sheilds are also in working order on the car!

Re: Looking to possibly buy a 1999 firebird

They aren't worth what KBB is saying to the average person. It has over 100K miles and its a V6...most people want under 100K miles and the V8s. More than likely its a decent car that is going for that price. I have a '98 with 92K miles and its a 5 speed that I was asking 5500 for in south Florida and have yet to get even one call on it and its been listed for a month. It depends on where you live and what people are looking for in your area. Chances are though that the car you're looking at is fine.

I would check for water damage if its been in Mississippi...see if it smells like Fabreeze :-p Also take it for a test drive. If it doesn't feel right, let it go. If you are really wanting the car and worried about flood damage or other potential problems, have them let you take it to a local dealership or mechanic to have it inspected. It is worth the headache in the longrun to make sure you have a good car and not someone elses headache.
