Question Testing Fuel Pump 89S-10

There is an article on testing a fuel pump in this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=633098

Is this procedure the same for an 89 with the 2bbl throttle body system?
If not what is the procedure?

My Haynes manual is a little vague on this point.

Thanks,
Mike

Yeah pretty much. The '95 had the same tank setup and in general is the same. The big difference is that in the '95 with the CPI engine, the fuel pump is working at a higher pressure than the the TBI system, so you cannot add fuel hose to those lines as a fix, you need fuel injector hose, and good clamps, I would double clamp. The '89 you can use fuel hose to fix. The '89 has a test wire under the hood too, I don't remember what colour it is, I think red, but don't quote me on that. Also the '89 does not have a Schrader valve, so you need to install a schrader valve to use a test fuel pressure guage.
