What gauge metal to make repair panel?

I'm repairing the big flat (rusty) sides of a 78 chevy step/delivery van. I plan on just replacing the whole side panels which are 5' x 14' (big) and I plan on galvanized. What gauge should I get? It will be supported by the internal metal framework about every 2 feet.

In case I get adventerous and decide to weld, please include a thicker suggestion along with your recommendations. I have a 110v flux core welder that I'm good with, but it gets real hot real fast.

Thanks.
