Is there an easy way to fix?Teddey 11-24-2006, 06:05 PM Hey everyone. I recently purchased an Impreza 2.5RS used and there is a problem. Shortly after I bought it, I took the car to get it inspected in NY and it failed. The problem is in the HO2S heater control circuit low bank 1 sensor 2 and sensor 1 where the catalyst, evaporative system and oxygen sensor is all labeled NOT READY. The auto mechanic told me that a dealer is not allowed to sell a car with emission problems and siggested I talk to the dealer. First of all does anyone know if that is true and second does anyone know if I can fix this by myself or know of a fast and cheaper solution so I can pass the inspection? Thank you all. P.S. I need this done before sunday. If anyone needs more info please let me know. 2turboimports 11-24-2006, 06:52 PM I would like to say that they can get in trouble for it....or it should be covered under some sort of warranty....buuut I don't know the bylaws of NY state regarding emissions and used vehicles. You may want to do a search for NY state statutes. FL has them listed on a website that's searchable, so I'd imagine NY would have something like that. Good luck. SabreKhan 12-01-2006, 02:48 PM If you bought it "as is" then you're screwed. If you bought it at any level of warranty above "as is" (pretty much, if the dealer never mentioned the words "as is" and if your contract for sale doesn't say "as is"), then you can take it back and make them fix it. The car (or, for that matter any product) must be suitable for the purpose for which it is intended, which means a car must be able to pass all regulatory laws in the jurisdiction in which it is sold. Cliff's notes: If you bought the car in NY, not "as is", then the dealer must make sure it passes all NY regulations. King Of The Thrill 12-16-2006, 11:16 PM you should be covered by whats is called the "lemon law" as long as the car is over i think $1,000 dollars and wasnt sold "as is" you have either 30 or 90 days to have the dealer repair it. and it has to pass inspection unless you got into an acciedent or something.
