They clog and don't seal up completely.
They won't be open all that often anyways.

i was looking at the cutouts on my mate's truck, he's got some he made from water pipe valves. instead of butterflies the valve goes down to block the gas flow. they don't leak when closed and don't jam either.
it looks like a tap valve with a high torque motor fixed to it.

Well.. that video proves that the Firehawk that was revving at me had open headers. the video doesnt do the actual sound justice as it sounds so much better when you're standing there.

they suck, they leak when the get carboned up, and sometimes they just dont open at all, these you just take off 3 wingnuts and bam plate is off and you have exhaust cutouts
