Fuel filters looking a little dirty on my 97 tahoe. So Im gonna replace it but Im wondering if it matters what fuel filter I go with. Someone told me a filter is a filter, but Im not sure about that. The oem I believe is A/C delco but its like 22 dollars, some others are like 10 bucks at the local autozone. Chime in please

Re: Fuel Filter ????
I'd watch out for the cheaper filter I've seen 2 that came apart internally and caused problems.

Re: Fuel Filter ????
I have also seen the cheaper filters leak do to poor mfg. Go with a good name brand; AC, Hastings, Baldwin, Wix (Napa, Carquest), Fleetguard, etc. And no Fram is not a good name brand.

Re: Fuel Filter ????
ok, a recall where something was messed up. Surely you didn't get rid of yor chevy just due to a few recalls right????? just to say they are junk and not give a reason is not a good thing IMO....i have used fram for years, and never had a problem. AC delco had a problem with some oil filters awhile back no? something with threads cut too coarse and cutting up the mount nipple on the cars? If you have specific problems with something, please share that problem instead of just saying they r junk. this is how we all learn.

I Thought u could have maybe looked at the thread above mine and found out for yourself. I have also had a problem with the seal around the filter breaking on just about every fram filter i have had. And before you ask, Yes i did put oil on it, and no i didnt put it on too tight they are just junk.

Re: Fuel Filter ????
Independent oil filter tests done have shown that burst strength and particulate filtration puts the standard Fram way down the list against other filters such as Wix premium, AC, and Purolator pure one.
