Lubricating Steering Shaft...

Did a search on the forum about this but couldn't find anything. I basically have a squeaking noise come from where the shaft enters into the floor board on my truck. Didn't know if I could spray some type of lubricant around the shaft to help lubricate it to stop the squeaking. Thanks for any advice on this. -I have a 2000 Tahoe 5.7 4X4-

I have done this very thing about 3 times already in the last 6 years. I give it a spray of Lubrimatic white lithium grease (with teflon) aerosol around the base where it goes thru the floor. There is a rubber boot around it and it gets dry and starts sticking. Any type of silicone spray would work too I would think...
