95 Camaro shimmy in rear when overdrive kicks in

My 95 Camaro has gone through major surgery. It's my girls' car - we ripped a 3.8's guts out and replaced everything with the guts of a 3.4. Everything seems to work great except when she's driving it in overdrive. Once the car slides into OD, the tach drops about 3K and the back end shimmy's. Not anything uncontrollable, but definately noticible. When in regular drive, it acts like it wants to drop the RPM's and shimmy, but the shaking is so light you can hardly tell its there if you weren't looking for it.

We've already changed out the rear and drivetrain - it was shaking in regular drive prior to that change. Just not sure what to do now since we know everything from the original 3.4 car ran great (just the body was UGLY).

Please give me suggestions. Thanks :banghead:

sounds like overdrive is going out no the tranny. have a tranny shop drive it.

when you say you changed the guts, what are they?

Engine, trans, driveshaft, rear. The only thing left from the 3.8 is the gas tank.
