What kind of exhaust should I get for my WS6?
I'm about to buy an 01' WS6. It has stock exhaust. I want to get the quad tips for the exhaust tips. I want my exhaust to be LOUD! What should I get done and how much will it cost (installation and all).
Mr. Luos...a video or sound clip of your car would be nice. Just so you know...your WS6 is my DREAM CAR. I bet there isn't a thing on the road around here that will keep up with you.

Re: What kind of exhaust should I get for my WS6?
Install for a catback is easy.
I had little idea what I was doing and it took an hour when I did my first one.
I would say Magnaflow. Not too loud at idle and lower RPM's...but at WOT it is loud and very good sounding.
This is three different sound clips on the dyno of my car. Remember, this is custom exhaust with a stroker motor.

Yup, the loudmouth is nice and loud, sounds good at idle as well. It was the first thing I did with my ss. Also freaks people who are behind me when it starts shooting sparks out of the exhaust.

I got rid of the Loudmouth. Doesn't sound like a V8.

I love the sound of the stock exhaust on the WS6 but I want it to be louder. I clicked on your link Mr. Luos and I like how your car sounds with all of the exhaust systems with the exception of the Magnaflow system. It just doesn't sound that loud to me. If I recall, you're not a big fan of Flowmaster exhaust are you?
If you could, please come up with an exhaust system that is loud and mean sounding. Please provide a link to the items and let me know about how much it would cost to order the items and have them installed. Thanks in advance.
I'm just afraid of putting an exhaust system on the WS6 and missing the stock exhaust. I also want to put quad 3' pipes on the WS6 too. Not like the vette, 2 pipes on the left and 2 on the right.

Re: What kind of exhaust should I get for my WS6?
We disagree several on several things.
Two single 3.5" tips works the best on the Trans Am's.
My favorite sounding clip is the Magnaflow. The camera mic can't really pick up the sound that well.
You want good sounding and loud??? LT's with a Magnaflow catback.
I dislike Flowmaster because the power gains are minimal.
LS1sounds.com is a large sound site. Just remember, camera mics aren't always the best.
This is LT's and a Magnaflow catback.

Disregard what I said earlier. That clip of the white Trans Am is NICE. I just thought that the other exhaust setups sounded better than magnaflow on the first link.
I will definitely look into magnaflow. Thank you very much for the links and advice. About how much would it cost to order the magnaflow system and have it installed?

Re: What kind of exhaust should I get for my WS6?
Install it yourself. Will only require a couple basic tools and a jack with stands. Couple hours. Might need a sawsall to get the stock stuff off.
The Magnaflow catback costs about $450 brand new. Install varies, but it wouldn't be much as it is pretty straight forward and easy.
Longtube headers are a different story.

Re: What kind of exhaust should I get for my WS6?
Borla or GMMG exhaust sounds good too. But both a bit pricey comparatively at around ~$800. You can check both those systems out too at www.ls1sounds.com
But I'm still going to run LM with my setup next spring.
A catback install should be cake, never done one before, but did my longtubes and weren't too difficult. Just install the catback yourself.

Re: What kind of exhaust should I get for my WS6?
From what I've always been told is that the SLP loudmouth is great if you have stock manifolds but when you get LT's you should go with something like magnaflow. When you have SLP and LT's I've heard it is very raspy.

I know, but I always have to learn things the hard way. I haven't heard a full exhaust setup w/ the LM in person, so I don't know what everyone hates about it. I think its good for the price, design, and its stainless steel. I'll admit defeat next spring if I hate it, but I'll rub it in if I like it. But I am also running a cat though, not ORY.

Re: What kind of exhaust should I get for my WS6?
if you're only doing catback then i'd go w/ loudmouth, but LT's + LM and you'll quickly realize there's such a thing as "too loud." lt/ory/magnaflow is a great set up for both sound and performance gains. flowmaster is a waste of $$
