Air slows or stops with accelerationfrizbal 11-12-2006, 08:14 PM 99 camaro 3.8L-- when i accelerate the air (hot or cold) with stop blowing as hard. If i get on it more (not all the way) it just about stops. What would cause this? 92zcamaroperson 11-12-2006, 08:34 PM vacuum leak in your vent system 95firebird 11-12-2006, 09:17 PM its supposed to do that if u accelerate and the air comes in hard at the same time it putting to much work on the motor Blackcrow64 11-12-2006, 09:52 PM its supposed to do that if u accelerate and the air comes in hard at the same time it putting to much work on the motor What?... :shakehead It is indeed a vacuum leak, frizbal... stone_mound_camaro 11-12-2006, 11:28 PM its supposed to do that if u accelerate and the air comes in hard at the same time it putting to much work on the motor Hey buddy, how are ya? have you read my sig yet? frizbal 11-13-2006, 03:04 PM its supposed to do that if u accelerate and the air comes in hard at the same time it putting to much work on the motor I understand this. But it normally only does that under heavy footpressure. And mostly with the a/c on right. Mine does it just going up a hill or reving it up a bit. frizbal 11-13-2006, 03:06 PM vacuum leak in your vent system So i should just go in and check all my hoses etc.? 92zcamaroperson 11-14-2006, 02:26 AM first thing i would look for is the little vacuum check valve for the a/c system. look it up in a shop manual. look for any lose connections and dry rotted rubber lines. on a side note...yes there is programming in the computer that shuts off the compressor under a certain throttle load...like when you have the pedal all the way down....but i highly doubt that has anything to do with this problem....maybe thats what guy with poor english was talking about... frizbal 11-16-2006, 07:40 PM Ok, well the problem gets weirder... I noticed the other day that when ever i do accelerate that it doesn't shut of or decease, what is taken away from the vent turns it onto the floor. -example- If my defrost is on and i accelerate to go up a hill, the defrost vent slows or stops air flow, and it starts blowing on my feet. 92zcamaroperson 11-16-2006, 09:27 PM forget about the compressor shutting off. You have a vacuum leak in the duct system. start looking for leaks. there should be a diagram in a shop manual. silicon212 11-16-2006, 09:30 PM It's definitely a vacuum issue. Double check all hoses/lines and make sure they are connected and not leaking. If your car has a vacuum reservoir, make sure there are no leaks to it. hotrod_chevyz 11-16-2006, 10:08 PM frizbal: how long have you owned it? did the problem just occur? Make sure the hoses are hooked up right under the hood. If the hose that controls the heat/air is plugged into a spot where the vaccume suction goes away when throttle is applied, a problem like that will occur. A vaccume diagram will be able to show you where all the hoses should hook up. The suction at the heat/ac hose under the hood should be constant, check it. Pull the hose and feel the orfice for suction. with your finger over the orfice, hit the throttle by hand, and see if the suction goes away under applied throttle. Also check the reservoir as was mentioned. If the only time you have a problem is when you apply throttle, i would guess its a misrouting of hoses. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
