GOOD LUCK..... SCRAPPER...... e_powers 11-12-2006, 07:47 AM first please dont use caps lock and sooo many smilies as it makes it hard to read your posts. second have you changed the timing belt?you may have slipped a cog or something else along those lines. LMP 11-12-2006, 09:24 AM What you describe is indeed - as suggested by epowers - typical of dead timing belt. There are several similar threads on this forum about same incident, like this one: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=349292 If engine has more than 70,000 miles/110,000 km and running the original belt, then it is due for a change even if it is not the culprit in your case. All instructions here: http://www.geocities.com/lmp4203/kiasport/TimingBelt.zip dontknow$#@! 12-23-2006, 10:04 PM it does sound like a timing belt jumped or broke, this happened to me twice, however be aware of this, every single automotive location says that the kia is an interference motor meaning that the motor is "fubar'd" if the belt brakes, however I am 10,000% sure that the 2000 kia at least is a non-interference motor i had my crank shaft break.......i thought it was the end of my kia after i heard it was interference however it is not so just change the belt and press on. Diakun 12-30-2006, 09:43 PM I had this same Problem as skarfacebob (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/member.php?u=485132) My neighbor and I worked 8 hours and checked the fuses, cab and engine area fuel filter , fuel pump etc. The Issue and I could not believe it my self was the ground wire for the Fuel Pump, Kia screws this to a painted area and if the fuel pump connector does not get a good ground it will not start, carefully scrap this area and clean the area and reapply the fuel pump ground wire. For those that do not know the Fuel Pump in the 2000 Kia Sporatage is in the gas tank and can be accessed under the rear passenger side seat, under the carpet access. Good Luck and sell your Kia's! vbmenu_register("postmenu_4461963", true); Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
