Good source for car information?

Hi, I'm 17 y/o (18 in less than a month) and I was wondering if anyone could help me by giving me some sort of source, whether it be a website, an idea, or a book, that could help me learn as muc has I cna about cars. I know teh general idea of how the engine nad a few other parts work, but would like ot know much more to the extent of being able to switch out motors or any parts, great car terminology, or just being able to tell what's wrong with the car and how to fix it. I was thinking about an internship of some sort, but I've heard that typically you'd get put in positions with alot of b*tch work and stuff like that, and you never learn so much. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks!

I learned from just hanging out with my dad's friends, they build race cars. But if you hang around the engineering section of AF or a few of the more popular model specific forums of AF you can learn a lot too.

Re: Good source for car information?

hmm, well the only problem w/ the first choice is that I don't have anybody to really hang w/ while working on cars. And I've been doing the second one, however when it's over a topic that youhave no clue anything about, it's hard to grasp the jist or learn anything about it...
